We remember the brave men and women who defended Lahore, Sialkot, and other key cities during the 1965 war between India and Pakistan. The enemy assaulted our frontiers on September 6, 1965, with the purpose of occupying the territories they had targeted. This operation was carried out in occupied Kashmir by India as a countermeasure to prevent further Pakistani military expansion. Lahore, Sialkot, and the arid regions of Sindh were the primary targets of their strikes. The United Nations successfully mediated a ceasefire between the two sides on September 22, 1965, effectively ending the conflict.

Our soldiers were able to successfully defend the attacked areas, and in doing so, they also saved the lives and property of hundreds of thousands of civilians. Therefore, it is imperative that we pay tribute to the sacrifices made by the men and women in uniform for our country so that we and our loved ones may continue to enjoy a life free from want or fear. It is only right that we also remember and revere the brave servicemen who risked their lives in support of our martyrs yet lived to tell the tale.

On 6 September Defence Day, people all throughout the country gather for military parades and other festivities to honor the country’s armed services. Modern military hardware and strategies are regularly on display during military parades. As an added bonus, this day is sometimes used for test firings of brand-new weapon designs. The overriding goal of all of these events is to honor our country’s military heroes and show the world how formidable we can be when we put our minds to it. Furthermore, the television and social media networks we manage help get the job done as well.
